Fall 2013: Love in the Time of War by Yusef Komunyakaa

Silk sheets armored with a metal cover: the presentation for Komunyakaa's sonnet sequence exploring the convergence of love and war through ancient and contemporary tableaux.

The backstory in video: See the transition from raw silk to the individually dyed and painted sheets that become pages of the book, and view Love in the Time of War in its entirety.

Neue Studios filmed and produced the video introduction to the Letterpress Apprenticeship Fundraising Appeal. In the course of assembling that video, filmmaker Eric Leone was inspired to create this video, "A Handmade Experience," in addition. It documents the process of Robin Price's work on As You Continue, an artist's book created in celebration of John Cage's 100th birthday. Studio footage is paired with Robin's spoken reflections on the significance of the project and its methods. Price used her left (non-dominant) hand in writing the quotation by Cage.
