Role Overview

We are seeking an organized, reliable, and multi-talented Studio Assistant for an initial 3- month term to help guide and support operations. This role blends administrative and digital content support with collaborative studio maintenance, event logistics, and hands- on production assistance.

This position is ideal for an organized, creative arts administrator, or printmaking/book arts student or graduate who excels at bringing structure to studio workflows, setting project timelines, and supporting evolving creative initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
1. Digital Content & Administrative Support (Core Focus)

  • Digital Asset Management: Organize, catalog, and tag digital photos, audio/video notes, and project archives into clean shared cloud storage (iCloud / Dropbox).

  • Social Media & Outreach: Draft and schedule regular social media posts, stories, and outreach updates documenting active studio projects, archives, and studio events.

  • Event & Workshop Admin: Assist with logistics, registration, and participant communications for upcoming classes, workshops, and gatherings, including community Making Parties.

• Collaborative Planning & Executive Support: Help co-prioritize goals, map out timeline milestones, and keep studio projects and events moving forward on schedule.

2. Studio & Production Support

  • Studio Care & Upkeep: Help keep the studio orderly, organized, and clean (press cleanup, organizing materials, resetting workspaces).

  • Production Prep & Collaboration: Brainstorm and assist with material setup, paper preparation/cutting, polymer platemaking, and hand bookbinding for ongoing edition projects.

  • Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong Administrative & Executive Function Skills: Excellent attention to detail, clear communication, and comfort co-creating structured systems, timelines, and action plans.

  • Interpersonal & People Skills: Warm, effective verbal communication skills; comfortable greeting guests, assisting participants during events, and representing the studio positively.

  • Digital Literacy: Familiarity with cloud storage (iCloud/Dropbox), basic photo organization, and visual social media platforms (Instagram/Facebook).

  • Background or Interest in Book Arts: Hands-on experience or coursework in letterpress, printmaking, bookbinding, or graphic design is highly desirable, but a strong administrative skill set with a high respect for fine art processes is key.

Self-Motivated & Dependable: Able to work independently while engaging in regular collaborative check-ins to set priorities and solve problems together.

  • Perks & Benefits

  • Flexible Scheduling: Work hours tailored around your schedule (5–10 hours/week to start).

  • Inspiring Setting: Located in a serene, nature-adjacent historic mill along the Coginchaug River (near Wesleyan University).

  • Studio Access & Mentorship: Opportunity for studio/press access, skill-sharing, and equipment use for candidates interested in printmaking and book arts.

• Growth Potential: Opportunity to extend the contract or expand hours as studio workshops, events, and community programs grow.
