Born from the vital practice of kundalini yoga, fascination with the chakra system & a yoga studio commission.
Gradation monotype (with several small brayers & wiping & stroking) on Johannot paper, mounted onto Japanese handmade paper, purple Izumo Mingei Mitsumata.
The title and yellow color refer to our body's third chakra, the solar plexus, located below the heart chakra.

Onto a 2006 sheet with chance-derived oil pastel lines, Price drew the intersecting triangles, circle, and color radiations from center in colored pencil. After the cyanotype exposure, using local leaves and seed pods, plus a glass plate, which created the white semi-circle at left, she painted the dark blue with gouache and acrylic, then added the soft gradation-fade at right with colored pencil.
"Spirit Compass" was the first work completed for the exhibit and became a travel guide for the rest.

Gradation monoprint with silver colored pencil spiral drawing onto Mohawk SF cover paper, hand-cut into a circle and mounted onto Japanese handmade indigo Izumo Mingei Mitsumata. The artwork then mounted onto archival back board (Tru-Core). Signed on the back. The title & orange color refer to our second chakra, the sacral chakra, located just above the root. Note: the background color is a rich, deep indigo, which is not well captured with this photo.
Drawing spirals has long been a favorite meditation of mine, for clearing the mind and being present while focused on a slow, repetitive movement that produces marks on paper. The experience is indeed one of “flow.”
